You are invited! (apologies for any cross posting)
We are delighted to invite you to
Mapping the Anthropocene: hopeful futures a creative programme exploring the role of data and mapping to make things visible, particularly in the context of the climate emergency.
This programme launches in Inspace next month, on the evening of Wednesday 4th of November and is part of the
2026 Festival of Social Science and Being Human Festival.

Mapping is a method to understand complex systems, relationships and power structures. Curated by humanities researcher Inge Panneels, featuring artwork by artists Lise Autogena and
Joshua Portway and platforming at Inspace, Mapping the Anthropocene will specifically engage with mapping as a way of understanding abstract climate change data and to reflect on how economics, the environment, data and technology intertwine
and crossover. The Exhibition will showcase new interpretations of two works by Autogena and Portway: HavObservatoriet – Edinburgh, and
Drip – 115.2205 ml/hr.
We would love for you to join us for the exhibition late and panel discussion to celebrate the launch of this exhibition taking place at
18:00 on Wednesday the 4th of November and featuring a panel discussion, chaired by
Inge Panneels, who is joined by artists Lise Autogena and Joshua Portway and guest speaker
Chris Fleet, Map curator at the National Library of Scotland, followed by audience Q&A, and drinks reception.
If you are not able to join us then please do check out the exhibition which runs
10:00-17:00 Wed-Sun, from Thursday the 5th until Sunday the 15th of November,
and we also have more events happening across the run, including a young people's workshop, facilitated by guest researcher, Ari Beckingham and a Lunchtime Tour with curator Inge Paneels, more details below.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Best wishes,
Miriam
